Cyber Safety Alert

High priority

Beware of Refund Scam Requests

Students please be vigilant of emails that appear to look like it was sent by Lynn University requesting personal information to be entered online.

We have been notified by the Federal Student Aid agency, that universities across the United States have been affected by “active phishing attempts”.  Cyber hackers are trying to obtain students login information for their banking information to redirect refunds provided by the university to be deposited to their own bank accounts.

Lynn University will NOT ask for login information.  Also, as a precaution, please check that your correct bank information is listed on the refund portal.  Be vigilant and careful about using links and entering personally identifiable information into websites.

At this time, Lynn University is one of the universities not affected and we are notifying you as a precautionary alert.

If you feel that you have received an active phishing email or unsure of an email that you have received from Lynn University, please report or ask for verification that the email is from Lynn University at the IT Help Desk on the first floor of the Library.

The Federal Student Aid agency is continuing  to monitor the situation and we will keep you updated.
