College of Education hosts Graduate Research Symposium

The Ross College of Education will host the first annual Graduate Research Symposium, ”Theory to Practice,”  on Friday, May 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the AG, showcasing the work of scholarly practitioners in the field of education.

“The primary purpose of the symposium is to enable those enrolled in the educational leadership doctoral program to present their research to other students, faculty, family, friends, and colleagues,” said Valerie Storey, director of doctoral programs.

The symposium will focus on how practice shapes theory with a strong emphasis on local problems of practice. It will feature poster presentations by the doctoral students, as well as presentations of dissertations in practice by the doctoral candidates in their final year of the program.

Presentations will include topics such as the impact of coercion on the outcomes of substance abuse program participants, research on an intervention strategy for scientific literacy and a comparison of elected and appointed superintendents.

This event is free and open to the public.
