Cybersecurity Alert: Beware of Scams Asking for Money

High priority

🚩 If you are being asked to pay to unlock your Lynn University account, it is a scam.

Cybercriminals often impersonate IT or support staff in phishing scams to trick you into clicking malicious links or providing sensitive information, such as passwords or financial details. We want to remind you that the Lynn University IT Department won't ask you for money to reenable or restore access to your account. Please stay vigilant and watch out for common scams.

⚠️ Common Scams to Watch Out For:

  • Text or SMS messages asking you to send payment to re-enable your account
  • Emails or messages asking you to "verify" your account by paying a fee
  • Requests to purchase gift cards or send payment via apps (e.g., Venmo, Zelle)
  • Messages claiming you violated a policy and must pay to restore access
  • Fake login pages mimicking Lynn University or Microsoft 365
  • See more examples here on our Knowledgebase page. https://kb.lynn.edu/x/oQNoBw

✅ What You Should Do:

  • Do not respond to or engage with the sender.
  • Do not click on any links or attachments.
  • Immediately report the incident to the Support Services Help Desk at:
  • If you suspect your account is compromised, change your password right away at https://ssrpm.lynn.edu

Your security is our top priority, when in doubt, check it out with our Support Services team before taking action.

Thank you,

Lynn University IT Department
