Help create the Lynn University AIDS Memorial Quilt

Use your creativity for a good cause: the making of the Lynn University AIDS Memorial Quilt, sponsored by the Health Center, to be displayed on campus in honor of World AIDS Day on Dec. 1.

Students (individuals or campus clubs) and employees (individuals or departments) are invited to participate in this project.

Send positive, motivational and educational messages to the Lynn community; and/or a memoriam dedication for someone who has passed from HIV/AIDS through the design of your fabric quilt block. Here is how it works:

• Participants receive a basic supply kit to design a single 18x18 quilt block, but are responsible for independently purchasing and adding design(s) and embellishments to their block.
• Although sewing experience is not necessary, it is a suggested method to attach additional fabric to the blocks.
• Each group is allowed to design more than one block.
• To reserve your quilt kit, email HealthCenterForms@lynn.edu with your team leader’s name, organization/department (if applicable), and an email/phone.
• Participants will be contacted in September to pick up their supply kits. Please sign up only if you are dedicated to completing the project.
• Arts & Crafts Workshop Parties will be held on campus for participants to use community supplies to decorate their quilt blocks on Oct. 7, 15, 21 and 29 at 5:30 p.m. in the Student Center lobby.
• Completed blocks are due Monday, Nov. 3, to give the committee time to combine/sew the finished blocks together and prepare the quilt project for display.
• The finished quilt will be unveiled on Monday, Dec. 1 at the World AIDS Day Showcase and Performance in the Wold lobby.

You can also showcase your organization or department at the World AIDS Day Showcase on Dec. 1 through tabling, posters and educational materials to raise awareness and show support for the fight against HIV/AIDS; promote upcoming programs. Email HealthCenterForms@lynn.edu to sign up.
