Elmar Oliveira, Distinguished artist-in-residence in the Conservatory of Music, is featured on the recently released Atlantic Classical Orchestra’s first-ever CD on the Artek label under the baton of Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Stewart Robertson. The recording comprises works by Robert Schumann, considered one of, if not the, greatest composers of the Romantic era. The last work on the recording is the composer’s sole violin concerto, the Violin Concerto in D minor, Woo1, written for the 19th century violin virtuoso Joseph Joachim and performed on the recording by the distinguished violinist Elmar Oliveira. The CD was recorded live March 5, 2012, at Lynn University’s Wold Performing Arts Center and includes a bonus track, a 20 plus-minute conversation on the Schumann Violin Concerto with Elmar Oliveira and Stewart Robertson.
