For the eighth year, Lynn University will host Founders Day on Friday to celebrate its founding on Nov. 1, 1962, as Marymount College. As in year's past, the day’s activities include canoe races, family picnic and festival, and golf cart parade. Check the full schedule below:

8:30-9:30 a.m.
Great Beginnings, main sidewalk
Stop by and pick up your morning "fuel" courtesy of the Corner Bakery Cafe, and learn some new Lynn trivia and fun facts.

12 p.m.
Welcome Address, Freiburger lakeside
Students, staff and faculty: Gather around as President Ross officially opens Founders Day with a welcome address, the Lynn story and kicks off the first Canoe Challenge race.

12:30-3:30 p.m.
7th Annual Founders Day Canoe Challenge, Freiburger Lake
Will you win or will you swim? The canoe races have become a Founders Day tradition. Form a team, defend your title or just come by and cheer on the sidelines (and see who lands in the lake). Plus, there will be a raffle for spectators, a keepsake for participants, kettle corn, Italian ice, music and more. Back by popular demand: 3 featured competitions, in addition to the traditional challenge races:
• Best Team Apparel/Costume (throughout the Canoe Challenge)
• Most Entertaining/Spectacular Sinking Team
• 2-Person Speed Race

And don't forget, faculty are eligible to compete for the coveted Golden Paddle, so you'll want to cheer on your favorite college.

Stop by the Office of University Events in the Trinity Residence Hall to register your team and receive the challenge rules or you can sign up starting today in the Student Center lobby.

And in another of our Going Green initiatives, free re-usable water bottles will be available at the canoe races between 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

4-8 p.m.
Founders Day Family Picnic & Festival, Schmidt Lawn
Family members of faculty and staff are invited to join students for a "Back to Our Local Roots" fall festival of delicious food, live music and fun activities. Make sure to stick around for the announcement of the Canoe Challenge winners and the student golf cart parade, a Lynn tradition you don't want to miss.
