More than a year after breaking ground, Lynn will dedicate Bobby Campbell Stadium
on Wednesday, March 26. The new stadium, a lighted facility with covered stands and seating for 500 spectators, designed by Gensler architectural firm, makes it possible for Lynn to add men’s lacrosse to its roster of sports.
The celebration will include a tailgating party at 4 p.m., the dedication at 5:30 p.m., and a surprise half-time-like performance following the dedication.
Medals will be awarded to donors who made this project a reality, including Robert (“Bobby”) Campbell, the lead donor, who provided $1.2 million. An anonymous donor gave $1 million toward the naming of Malfitano Field in honor of Senior Vice President Gregory Malfitano.
“With the addition of Bobby Campbell Stadium, our championship soccer teams, as well as our inaugural men’s lacrosse team, can finally play games under the lights,” said Lynn President Kevin M. Ross. “Our stadium namesake, Bobby Campbell, and so many other generous people made this facility possible, and we are excited to have our donors, students, faculty, staff and their families join us as we celebration the dedication and include a few surprises.”
The first home lacrosse game of the year is Sunday, March 30 at noon vs. Colorado Mesa University followed by Lynn vs. Florida Southern College: on April 2, at 7 p.m., and Lynn vs. University of Tampa: April 12, at 7 p.m.
