Who must complete an internship?

College of Business students are required to do an internship. For other colleges, internships are not required, but are recommended.

Who can complete an internship for academic credit?
Sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Freshmen can do internships during their first year, but not for academic credit (This applies to domestic students only. International students, please contact International Student Services).

How many internship hours do I need?
College of Business students are required to complete 150 hours, which is equivalent of 3 credits.

How many working hours = 1 credit?
50 hours = 1 credit

Is there a maximum amount of internship hours that I can use towards credit?
Students can take up to 9 credits, which is equivalent to 450 hours, for academic credit. We recommend checking with your academic advisor to see if you are eligible for additional internship credits.

Is there a deadline for registering my internship for credit?
No. Internship registration is rolling enrollment, meaning the student can register at any time during the term. (Terms: Fall Day (1), Spring Day (3), Summer (4A)). However, we recommend registering your internship for credit when you receive an internship offer. Since you are completing a course in tandem with your working internship hours, you will be responsible for completing assignments throughout the term. Please take this into consideration when registering your internship.

Do all internships start and stop at same time?
No. Different companies have different start/stop deadlines. There is rolling enrollment to sign up for credit. The student and employer is responsible for creating a work schedule based on the needs of the student and employer.

The internship course is not appearing in Canvas. What do I do?
